Springfield Community Gardens mission is to create gardens that strengthen neighborhoods where people grow healthy relationships, food and community.
Springfield Community Gardens (SCG) first took root when a small group of residents, university students, and professionals joined together with the idea of forming a neighborhood garden in the Grant Beach Neighborhood.
Construction of the Grant Beach Community Garden began in 2010 with the assistance of the Springfield-Greene County Parks Department and the City of Springfield’s Neighborhoods and Planning Office. Since then, they have grown steadily. In 2017, in partnership with Ozarks Food Harvest, they distributed over 156,000 pounds of produce to families in need, and volunteers have logged more than 5,000 hours in SCG gardens. Dedicated volunteers like you ensure that Springfield Community Gardens will continue to enrich our community.
Springfield, let’s keep growing
Each month, we highlight a community organization for this program. Canisters are available at each cash register at all three locations, and MaMa Jean’s matches the donations given by our customers up to $250.
