MaMa Visits Elder Farms

Nestled along the Spring River lies Mount Vernon’s treasured century family farm. What started over 100 years ago has evolved over four generations and blossomed into Elder Farms.  Once a small dairy and traditional crop farm, the Buehler family pulled a brave, 180 degree turn, to focus on providing a more healing product to their community. The elderberry plant was a natural choice, as it’s been used medicinally throughout the ages.

Behind the Scenes with the Bees

It’s late August, and even the morning hours won’t let you escape from the sun’s scorching rays. Bees buzz in the secret garden at MaMa Jean’s East Sunshine location. Hidden amongst the flowers and overgrown lavender, this garden harbors a little known secret: three honey bee hives. Most days the bees go quietly about their business, pollinating plants and turning nectar into honey. However, today is different. The hives are ready. Today is an exciting day for beekeepers.

Local or Organic. That's It.

Local or Organic. That’s it! This is our guarantee to you. No need to search for quality when shopping for your fruits and vegetables. MaMa Jean’s makes it easy by only sourcing produce that is locally grown or certified organic. Our local farmers practice organic techniques, so our local produce has the same standards as our organic produce. Conventional produce, which is what you find in most grocery stores, is often times sprayed with harmful chemicals to repel insects and to prevent weeds.

Local Food... In a Nutshell

At MaMa Jean’s, we love local. Since our doors opened in 2002, we have partnered with area farmers, bakers, growers and artists to showcase exceptional quality from right here in the Ozarks. By supporting local, we can get high quality, real food at a fair price, while supporting Ozarks farmers, improving the local economy, and reducing our environmental impact.
