In 2011, Nancy Brown Dornan picked up a paintbrush at a class at the Springfield Art Museum and has been painting ever since. Her style has evolved into large colorful paintings, some impressionistic, some abstract. Early on, a educator but most of her professional years managing Maschino's, Dorrnan has been a community activist involved in the rejuvenation of downtown Springfield, historic structures and performance venues.
When asked to share her thoughts/tips, Nancy had one word....PAINT. Don't be afraid, it is only paper. Put unusual colors, shapes, concepts together. Each effort exercises your creativity. Creativity is problem solving, whether you are creating with paint or food or a problem at work or home. Creativity is figuring out a better/new way to do anything. We ALL are creative people.
Dornan is currently exhibiting at Ellliot Robinson CPA, Fresh Gallery and Mama Jean's. Her website is nancydornan.com
