Starwort , chickenwort, winter weed – are all are nicknames for what is commonly known as Chickweed. For centuries this little herb has been used for it’s medicinal qualities or it’s tasty nutritional value. A rich source of nutrients, Chickweed is full of slippery, soothing saponins, proteins, fiber, and even essential fatty acids. It even has a very high mineral content!
Try adding raw chickweed to your salad! Make a tea or add it to your next smoothie for a little nutritional boost.
Chickweed also makes a great cooling, anti-inflammatory poultice for bug bites, minor wounds, pimples, rashes, and eczema.
