You have probably heard by now, but local honey is the bee's knees! Now MaMa Jean’s Natural Market is giving honey production a go! You can’t get any more local than that! With help from our friends at Sustainable by Nature and our friends the bees, we managed to produce a small batch of honey this season. We are calling our MaMa Jean’s honey, “Bee-ver Honey.” We will have limited quantities of these 12 ounce jars of honey for sale during our 15 Year Celebration. Sorry if you miss out on this harvest, we will have another batch of honey ready in the Spring of 2018.
This has been a project close to everyone’s hearts and we could not be more proud of the end results! Our bees are free to fly around wherever they chose and eat what they like. Although we do provide flowers right outside of their hives to munch on.
If you aren’t familiar with Sustainable by Nature, they are local professional permaculture designers who help organizations and families across the Ozarks create landscapes and gardens that are not only beautiful, but functional and productive. They help us with our rooftop garden and side yard garden at the Republic Road location; as well as our bee hives and their surrounding garden at our East Sunshine location. These gardens provide us with amazing produce and honey to sell at our stores. We are very lucky to have such a great relationship with this unique company.
