MaMa Jean’s was established in December 2002 at 1727 S. Campbell by Susie Kawamoto and Diana Hicks. This full-service natural market was named in tribute to both of the owner’s mothers: “MaMa” Loweta Hicks and Jean Farbin. With the intention of bringing local, organic and natural foods to Springfield, and a focus on great customer service, MaMa Jean’s was welcomed into the community with enthusiasm. MaMa Jean's remains a family business.
Since opening their first store, Susie and Diana have watched their business grow from 6 employees to 150. They dug their roots deeper into Springfield with the addition of their second and third stores on Republic Road and East Sunshine Street. In December of 2020, they relocated their original location to 228 W Sunshine which included the addition of MJ’s Market & Deli, featuring a full-service deli catering to Keto, plant-based, vegan, and gluten-free lifestyles.
At MaMa Jean’s, we're about giving back to the Ozarks, where our roots run deep. Our commitment shines through in our active participation in numerous local events, celebrating and supporting the vibrant community that surrounds us. With our monthly Change for Change program, you have the opportunity to make a difference. At each cash register, we raise money for locally based non-profit organizations that are doing incredible work right here in our community.
